My philosophy is that we are meant to be peaceful, happy and confident people. But, life happens, and much of what happens does not lend well to easy happiness.
Adolescence is a period of time of phenomenal growth in all aspects of life. It is also the period of time when many developmental changes take place physically, mentally and emotionally. These changes can be seen as exciting and contributing to happiness. But for many, changes are challenges in ways that may lead to problems. Meeting with a therapist can prevent minor issues from turning into major problems.
We now know from years of research that how we look at life and how we address difficulties actually changes brain structure and has long-term effects on how we perceive not only ourselves, but others and life itself. What an amazing opportunity teens have to take these developmental years and learn the skills and mental emotional habits that will actually change their thinking and behaviors to create their own future full of more peace and happiness.
Among the top reasons teens seek therapy:
- Depression
- Anxiety Disorders
- Behavior Problems
- Stress
- School and Social Issues
- Low Self-Esteem
- Trauma
- Grief
For each of these areas of concern, I have specialized training to help your teen learn those skills and habits that can help them move forward in more self-confidence and feel more joy.
We also know from research that the human brain is not completely developed until the age of 26! So, congratulations on being proactive in helping your teen directly address the emotional/mental challenges that may be keeping them from becoming all they can be and feeling the happiness that you want for them.
I would love to talk to you about the possibility of my being part of your “team” as we would work together to help this happen for your teen.
